How the Calculator Works
The calculator uses the standard expected value formula for casino bonuses. It takes the total amount you need to wager, multiplies it by the house edge (100% minus the RTP), and subtracts that cost from the bonus amount.
Expected loss = Total bets needed x (1 - RTP). Net bonus value = Bonus amount minus expected loss.
A positive result means the bonus is statistically profitable on average. A negative result means it costs more to clear than it is worth. Most bonuses with wagering requirements above 30x return a negative expected value at typical slot RTP.
What the Result Tells You
Positive EV - The bonus is worth more than it costs to clear, on average. This is rare at LTC casinos and usually only occurs with very low wagering requirements (under 20x) or very high RTP games.
Near zero EV - The bonus roughly breaks even. You are getting free play with a neutral expected outcome. This is reasonable if you enjoy the play.
Negative EV - The bonus costs more to clear than you receive. This does not mean you should never take it - bonus play has entertainment value. It does mean you should know what you are paying for it.
Common Inputs to Try
- Typical slot bonus: $100 bonus, 35x WR on bonus, 96% RTP - expected value around -$40
- Low WR bonus: $100 bonus, 20x WR on bonus, 96% RTP - expected value around -$80 (still negative but less bad)
- High WR bonus: $100 bonus, 50x WR on bonus, 96% RTP - expected value around -$100 (bonus nearly worthless)
- Deposit + bonus WR: $100 deposit, $100 bonus, 35x on both, 96% RTP - much higher cost to clear
